A commonly asked question to do with colon cleansing, is " What can I expect to occur when I am on the cleanse?" This is a good question especially for people who have never done a cleanse before.
Firstly, it is a good idea to quickly discuss what your body, especially your stomach, intestines and colon, may have gone through in the past. When you eat food your body tries to digest this as best it can and uses some of this food to supply energy to the body.
The rest of the food continues to pass through the digestive system and eventually pass out of the body either in the urine or in your faecal movements.
The linings of your stomach, intestines, and colon are not completely smooth. There are hundreds of thousands of little indentations and pockets and folds of skin, which exist to increase the surface area of the inside of these organs.
The reason for this is so that the digestive foods can more easily pass through the cell walls and into the blood stream and be transported around the body where it is needed. It is not an easy thing to describe, but imagine the surface of the sponge. From a distance the surface of the sponge looks quite flat and smooth.
However if you look closely you will see lots of little indentations, holes and hollows and generally the surface isn't very smooth. It's not quite the perfect analogy, but this is what the surface of your stomach, intestines and colon, would look like under the microscope. (In other words not as smooth as it first seems.)
Under ideal circumstances you would just eat your food, use whatever energy you needed, and your body would eliminate anything not needed as waste. However for the vast majority of people, today's diet leaves a lot to be desired. Most people eat at least some processed foods. Much of this can be quite hard your body to die digest properly.
There are many reasons for this which will be explained in other articles but it includes reasons such as more chemicals, poor nutrition, and many man-made additives added to the food. Over time, weeks or months and years, some of this poor quality food, can actually become lodged inside the many hollows and pockets in the surface of the various digestive organs. This can continue to build up, especially if the diet hasn't been significantly improved and also if insufficient water is drunk.
You can imagine that this can lead to a buildup of unhealthy bacteria and also cause a bad smell, which results in wind/farts. We don't mean to be crude but when you are discussing the subject of intestines and colon and cleansing, you do have to discuss stools or poo and wind or farts etc. there is no need to be embarrassed by this and there is no reason really, why it shouldn't be discussed. It is after all a natural body process.
